A guide to the EV chargepoint grant
Provided by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), the EV chargepoint grant offers up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charging point. In this blog, we’ll explain who is eligible and how to apply.
Is the EV chargepoint grant the same as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme?
As of 31st March 2022, the OZEV Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is no longer open to new applicants. The EV chargepoint grant was brought in as an alternative.
Am I eligible for the EV chargepoint grant?
You can apply for a grant for an electric car home charger, as long as you’re a homeowner living in a flat or currently living in rental accommodation (flats and single-use properties). You must have dedicated off-street parking and own, lease, or have use of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle eligible for the grant.
You can’t apply for the grant if you’ve already applied before (this includes any applications for the previous EVHS grant) for your EV.

How to apply for the EV chargepoint grant
To get started, contact an OZEV-authorised installer such as Badbury Group and get a quote for installing your new EV charger.
We can advise on the approved models of chargepoint, and you can see if your EV is on the government’s list of eligible vehicles.
Please note that not all plug-in vehicles are eligible for the grant. While all full battery electric vehicles are eligible, plug-in hybrid vehicle CO2 emissions must be calculated below 50g/km.
If you live in a rented property with dedicated off-street parking, the grant application process is quite simple. Our experienced team can answer any queries you might have. Give us a call today on 01202 801391 to get started.
Can businesses apply for the OZEV EV chargepoint grant?
The great news is, OZEV also offers grants for businesses to reduce the cost of installing EV infrastructure for fleet and staff parking. The Workplace Charging Scheme is a grant that offers a maximum of £350 per chargepoint socket, up to 40 sockets per applicant business.
